Afghanistan has announced its squads for the upcoming one-off Test and three-match ODI series against India, with skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi continuing to lead the side in both formats. The tour will run from June 6 to June 20 across New Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai.
Experienced core retained for India challenge
The Afghan selectors have largely backed their experienced core while also rewarding a few young performers ahead of the demanding tour. Senior players like Rahmat Shah, Ibrahim Zadran and Rashid Khan remain central to the side’s plans in both formats.

Young spinner Allah Ghazanfar and batter Sediqullah Atal are among the notable inclusions as Afghanistan aims to test its bench strength in Indian conditions. Wicketkeeper-batter Afsar Zazai has also been included in the squad for the multi-format series.
India series to begin in June
The one-off Test between India and Afghanistan will begin on June 6 in New Chandigarh. The ODI leg of the tour will then move to Dharamsala on June 13 before matches in Lucknow on June 17 and Chennai on June 20.

India had earlier announced its squads for the series, with Shubman Gill set to captain the side. Senior stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are expected to feature in the ODI series subject to fitness clearance as India continues preparations for upcoming ICC events.
