Indian cricket team's star pacer Mohammed Shami has been summoned for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) hearing. However, the cricketer could not appear on the scheduled date due to his cricketing commitments.

The hearing notice was officially issued on Monday from Karjannagar School in Jadavpur. However, Shami is currently playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Bengal in Rajkot, where he is expected to remain until January 8.

According to Election Commission sources, Shami has now been given the option to appear for the hearing between January 9 and January 11, allowing him time to return after completing his matches.

Voter details and background

Shami is a registered voter of Ward No. 93 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, which falls under the Rashbehari Assembly constituency. Although he was born in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, he has been residing in Kolkata for several years.

During his teenage years, Shami moved to Kolkata on the advice of his coach. He later came into prominence after being noticed by former cricketer Sambaran Bandyopadhyay, which helped him secure a place in Bengal’s Under-22 team. His early career also included appearances in the Mohun Bagan Cricket Cup.
