Tilak Varma is all set to join the World Cup squad after missing the New Zealand Series. Surya Kumar Yadav has confirmed his availability and shared updates about Washington Sundar’s return. India won the T20I series against New Zealand by 4-1. Putting a humongous 271 runs total on the board in the last match of the series, the Indian team has announced their arrival on the big stage with style. A team in which no one is afraid to hit that to without feeling reckless, and also has the license to bat deep till number 8, is something to be confident of, and with Tilak Varma’s inclusion, the batting will find more strength.

When and where will Tilak join the World Cup squad?
Talking in the post-match press conference, Surya Kumar Yadav said, “He has been shaping up well. I heard he will be playing two games in Mumbai ahead of the T20 World Cup. I spoke to him yesterday. He has started batting, bowling and fielding. Hope to have him soon.” Reports also suggested that he has cleared the fitness test from Bengaluru CoE.
Whereas Sundar, 26, who suffered an injury in the first ODI match against New Zealand, is now receiving rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru after suffering a side strain during the ODI series against New Zealand. Bringing light to the matter, Surya said, “Washington is doing well. I spoke to him yesterday. He has almost started bowling and batting.”

Going forward, to the World Cup, India will first take on South Africa in the warm-up match scheduled to be played on February 4, and Tilak will join the squad at Mumbai on February 3.
