Two bike thieves were arrested from the Piyali area of Baruipur. According to sources, the arrested individuals are named Ayon Mondal and Soumen Mondal. They are residents of the Sundarbans coastal area. Police also recovered three stolen motorcycles from them on Monday.
According to police sources, on January 21, a resident of the North Bhag area filed a complaint about bike theft. The investigation began based on that complaint. During the investigation, police obtained several CCTV footage from that area. The accused were identified after examining that footage.

However, no trace of the two accused could be found. Acting on secret information, police conducted a search operation in the Piyali area. Both accused were arrested from there.
Police further informed that the arrested individuals had rented a house in the Piyali area. From there, they would plan bike thefts in various areas. One would steal the bike while the other would keep a close watch on the surroundings.

The stolen bikes were allegedly sold by the arrested individuals in the Sundarbans area.
Police have already begun interrogating the arrested individuals. Preliminary investigation by investigators suggests that the arrested individuals have stolen multiple bikes not only in Baruipur but also in various police station areas nearby. Baruipur police station is investigating whether anyone else is involved in this gang.
