Lungi Ngidi was discharged from hospital a day after a scary IPL head injury, with no serious damage detected and his condition now stable.

A day after a frightening on-field injury during an Indian Premier League match, Lungi Ngidi has been discharged from hospital. The Delhi Capitals pacer is now stable, and medical reports have ruled out any serious spinal injury.

The incident took place on Saturday during a match involving Delhi Capitals. Ngidi suffered a head and neck injury while attempting a catch, leading to panic among players and spectators.

On-field incident, immediate response

The injury occurred when Ngidi tried to catch a shot from Priyanshu Arya off a delivery by Axar Patel. He lost balance and fell awkwardly, hitting the back of his head and neck on the ground.

Play was immediately stopped as medical staff rushed in. Ngidi was placed on a stretcher, given oxygen support, and taken by ambulance to BLK-Max Hospital for treatment.

The seriousness of the fall initially raised concerns about a possible spinal injury. However, scans later confirmed that no major damage had occurred.

Health update and recovery

According to reports by ANI and IANS, Ngidi was discharged on Sunday morning after medical evaluation. He has since returned to the team hotel.

A source familiar with the development said, "Ngidi is doing well now. He has returned to the team hotel, which is a positive sign. The severity of the injury has reduced, and he is on the path to recovery. The team's medical staff will continue to monitor his condition."

Team officials also visited him during his hospital stay, including senior members of the franchise management.

Ngidi has been in consistent form this season. In seven matches, he has taken seven wickets, maintaining an economy rate of 8.70. His best performance so far stands at three wickets for 27 runs.

While his immediate return to play remains uncertain, his recovery has brought relief to teammates and fans after the alarming incident.
