Residents across South Bengal, including Kolkata, may finally get some relief from the sticky heat. The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast a strong chance of nor’westers across several districts on Sunday, with thunderstorms also likely in the city. A gradual fall in temperature by around 3 to 4 degrees Celsius is expected over the next few days.
Kolkata woke up to a cloudy sky on Sunday morning. As the day advances, sunlight is expected to intensify, adding to discomfort due to high moisture levels in the air. Despite this, a shift in weather conditions is likely later in the day.
The weather office has indicated that gusty winds could reach speeds of 40 to 50 kmph. A drop in temperature is expected from the afternoon onwards, which may ease conditions slightly. On Sunday, the minimum temperature stood at 27.4 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees above normal. On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, 0.3 degrees below normal.
