Just like every other U-19 World Cup, the Indian U-19 batch of 2026 has already provided exceptional talent. Many of them have already flourished, and a few of them are expressing themselves on the big stage. Abhigyan Kundu is one of them. When headlines are grabbing the attention of Ayush Mhatre’s low patch or Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s performances, Abhigyan Kundu is helping the team silently as the tournament is developing and entering the decisive phase. The Bengal-born batter and wicket-keeper is giving reliability to the team in the middle in every match.

The Indian team has failed to give a good start in the opening, but every time Kundu came as a solution, his exceptional performance in the middle has made him one of the key players of this year’s campaign.

Vihaan- Abhigyan formed a 113-run stand against Zimbabwe

In the first match of the Super Six, the Indian team posted a huge total of 352 runs against Zimbabwe. The team lost their first wicket at 44 runs in the name of Aaron George. Afterwards, captain Mhatre and vice-captain Sooryavanshi built a partnership of over 50 runs. However, the Indian team lost momentum quickly, slipping from 100 for 1 to 130 for 4 in no time.

Among the pair of left-handers, Kundu took on the role of aggressor and provided more space for Vihaan, who later scored his century gracefully.

Bat spoke loudly for another Bengali left-hander

Sourav Ganguly helped to take Bengal’s cricket to the world. Now, Abhigyan Kundu, another Bengali left-hand batter, is showcasing his talent everywhere. The 17-year-old prodigy was born in Bengal but grew up in Mumbai.

In this World Cup, he came out to bat three times and every single time, he has fascinated the audience with his elegance. In the first match against the USA, he scored 42 runs, and in the very next match against Bangladesh, he left the crease scoring 80 runs in a tough situation.
