An explosive eight-minute spell early in the first half laid the foundation for East Bengal’s commanding 4-1 victory over Delhi at Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday. Between the 4th and 12th minute, three goals dramatically altered the flow of the contest, swinging momentum firmly towards the red and yellow. What initially looked like Delhi’s night quickly transformed into a statement performance from the hosts, who combined attacking sharpness with midfield dominance and defensive discipline to secure a historic result.

Eight-minute blitz flips the contest

Delhi struck first in the 4th minute when Augustin cut inside the box and fired a low shot beyond Prabhsukhan Gill to hand the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The goal briefly silenced the home supporters, but East Bengal responded with urgency.

In the 7th minute, Lalrindika capitalised on a half-cleared free-kick from Bipin, unleashing a powerful first-time volley from outside the box. Though Vishal Yadav got a touch, the ball slipped through his hands and into the net. The equaliser ignited the stadium.

Three minutes later, the turnaround was complete. Lalrindika’s penetrating run forced Clarence into a foul inside the area, prompting the referee to award a penalty. Ezejari stepped up and converted calmly, giving East Bengal a 2-1 advantage and shifting the psychological balance.

Miguel orchestrates as East Bengal script history

After the frantic start, East Bengal imposed structure and control. Delhi struggled to regain rhythm as the hosts dominated midfield exchanges and pressed aggressively. The third goal arrived in the 40th minute when Miguel delivered a precise through pass to Ezejari, who coolly slotted the ball home to make it 3-1 at halftime.

The second half was measured rather than chaotic. Delhi attempted to respond but lacked cutting edge in the final third. East Bengal remained compact defensively and efficient in transition.

In stoppage time, Miguel capped off a commanding display with a superb long-range strike, sealing a comprehensive 4-1 win. While Ezejari’s brace earned him Man of the Match honours, Miguel’s all-round influence was pivotal.

Notably, this victory marks the first time in ISL history that East Bengal have won their opening two matches of a season under Oscar Bruzon, a significant milestone that signals growing belief within the squad
