ISL 2025-26: Punjab FC Complete Second-Half Comeback to Beat Mohammedan SC 2-1

Punjab FC overturned a first-half deficit with two quick goals to defeat Mohammedan SC 2-1 in ISL 2025-26.

Punjab FC delivered a composed and clinical second-half performance to defeat Mohammedan Sporting Club 2-1 in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Despite dominating much of the first half, the hosts found themselves trailing at the break. However, a quick turnaround after halftime ensured they walked away with all three points. The win moved Punjab FC up to fifth place with 11 points, while Mohammedan SC remained at the bottom of the table without a point. Captain Dani RamĂ­rez played a key role in the comeback and was named Player of the Match.

Mohammedan takes the lead despite Punjab pressure

Punjab FC started brightly and created several early chances. Nsungusi Jr hit the crossbar, while Muhammed Uvais came close with a header. But against the run of play, Mohammedan SC struck first in the 29th minute.

Hira Mondal’s long pass found Lalremsanga Fanai, who finished calmly to give the visitors the lead. Punjab continued to push forward, with Dani Ramírez and Suresh Meitei going close, but they couldn’t find the equaliser before halftime.

Quick-fire goals seal comeback

Punjab FC came out stronger in the second half after making changes. The equaliser arrived almost immediately, as Nsungusi Jr finished a well-worked move in the 47th minute. Just minutes later, Punjab completed the turnaround.

Ricky Shabong’s delivery was squared by Bede Amarachi Osuji for Dani Ramírez to score into an empty net. Punjab remained in control for the rest of the match, creating further chances, while Mohammedan SC failed to threaten in the closing stages.
