The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding a weather condition due to a storm formation occurring over Rajasthan that is expected to drift towards the east and will affect vast areas of northern India with thunderstorms, lightning, rains, and gusty winds from April 3rd to 4th in states such as Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi.
These storms are expected to have wind speeds ranging between 40 and 70 kilometres per hour and hailstorms in certain areas as well. As per the forecast schedule, it is expected to hit the following regions at different timings starting from 3 PM to 8 PM in Rajasthan, 4 PM to 9 PM in Haryana, 5 PM to 11 PM in Punjab, and 6 PM to 10 PM in Delhi.
In the past 24 hours, hailstorms have already been reported in some places of East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, and Madhya Maharashtra. Heavy rainfall between 7 and 11 cm has been recorded in isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, indicating an active and widespread weather system.

Delhi sees dust storm, rain likely
Delhi experienced hazy conditions on Friday morning after a dust storm reduced visibility across the city. Cooler winds brought temperatures down to around 21C. Thunderstorms and rain are expected later in the day, with maximum temperatures likely to reach 33C.
A yellow alert has been issued for the weekend, with warnings of lightning and gusty winds of up to 30-40 kmph, along with a slight dip in temperature.
The IMD has indicated that the weather conditions will remain unstable in the upcoming days. There will be thunder showers and rain on April 5, while calm weather is predicted on April 6. But there will again be storms from April 7 to 8.

Maharashtra and coastal areas on alert
Some other parts of Maharashtra, like Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Konkan-Goa, will also see thunder showers, light to moderate rain, and winds blowing at speeds between 30 and 40 kmph.
Coastal areas have also been put on alert because the wind blowing over the Arabian Sea may have speeds ranging from 35 to 45 kmph, which can even increase up to 55 kmph.
