Alexander Zverev finally broke his Grand Slam drought after defeating Flavio Cobolli in a thrilling five-set final to win the 2026 French Open title at Roland Garros. The German star held his nerve in a high-quality contest to claim the first major championship of his career.

Zverev made a strong start to the final, dominating the opening set 6-1 with aggressive baseline play and precise serving. However, Cobolli responded impressively in the second set, raising his level to draw the match level and keep the contest alive.

The German regained momentum in the third set, using his experience to edge ahead once again. Cobolli refused to go away and produced some of his best tennis in the fourth set, eventually winning a tense tiebreak to force the match into a deciding fifth set.
