The BSA Scrambler 650 marks the brand’s latest attempt to tap into the growing demand for retro-styled motorcycles with a hint of off-road capability. Based on the BSA Gold Star 650, the Scrambler carries forward the same mechanical foundation but packages it in a more rugged, adventure-ready form.
At its heart is a 652cc, single-cylinder, four-valve DOHC engine that produces 45 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Paired with a five-speed gearbox, the motor is tuned for strong mid-range performance rather than outright speed. This character makes the bike easy to ride in real-world conditions, especially in city traffic and on open highways where usable torque matters more than peak figures.
Built for road and mild trails
Unlike the road-focused Gold Star, the Scrambler 650 adopts a more upright and purposeful stance. A flat and wide handlebar, along with a taller posture, gives the rider better control. The slightly upswept exhaust, along with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, adds to its scrambler credentials.
The block-pattern tyres hint at light off-road capability, though the bike is clearly intended for mixed use rather than hardcore trail riding. The design leans heavily on classic scrambler cues, blending vintage appeal with practical ergonomics.
Hardware and features
The motorcycle is built around a twin cradle tubular steel frame, supported by a tubular steel swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and twin rear shock absorbers with preload adjustability. The setup is designed to balance comfort with stability across varying road conditions.
Braking is handled by Brembo components, with a 320 mm front disc and a 255 mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS and traction control come as standard, offering an added layer of safety. The bike also features an offset round instrument console, maintaining the retro theme while delivering essential information.
