US President Donald Trump marked the first anniversary of the 'no tax on tips' law with an unusual gesture at the White House. Two large bags of food from McDonald's were delivered to the Oval Office, turning a routine order into a media moment.

"This doesn't look staged, does it," Trump joked as Sharon Simmons, a Door Dash Grandma, handed over the order. The delivery quickly drew attention as cameras captured the interaction.

Simmons, dressed in a red T-shirt reading 'DoorDash Grandma', appeared caught off guard when Trump invited her to address reporters alongside him.

"Would you like to do a little news conference with me, with these people?" Trump asked her. "These are not the nicest people."

Simmons agreed, responding, "I'll do whatever you ask me to do, sir," as she stood beside the President during the brief exchange.

Highlighting the 'no tax on tips' law, Trump used the moment to highlight the impact of the policy. Handing Simmons a USD 100 tip, he said, "So the no tax on tips is something special. It's very special, and that's one that really pertains to you."

"It is such an honour to meet you," the President added, before saying, "and I think you voted for me." Simmons replied that she "maybe" voted for the Republican.

According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Simmons earned USD 11,000 in tips last year and is using the money to support her family.

The interaction ended with an invitation. Trump asked Simmons and her husband Leo to attend an Ultimate Fighting Championship event scheduled on the White House lawns on June 14.
