The Indian Premier League 2026 season has seen one of the finest bowling performances as two debutants of Sunrisers Hyderabad unleashed fire, taking five wickets in just two overs. Praful Hinge from Vidarbha and Sakib Hussain from Bihar, came in place of Jaydev Unadkat and Harshal Patel. The capped Indian players has failed to add value in the orange camp and as Pat Cummins is also recovering from the injury, the team management thought of to go with two new bowlers, Praful Hinge created history taking three wickets in the very first over and Shakib also showed Jaiswal the way to pavillion in the second over, throughout the game Sakib came to bowl in phases and picked a total of four wickets conceding, 24 runs in four overs.
Hailing from Bihar, Hussain was part of the CSK camp as a net bowler, and he was also part of the KKR squad. In the 2026 IPL auction, SRH put up the paddle for him.

Sakib Hussain, who shared the new ball with Praful Hinge, made his presence felt after being introduced as an Impact Substitute for Travis Head. Picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹30 lakh. Hussain’s journey to the IPL has been anything but straightforward. Interestingly, he had earlier been signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹20 lakh two years ago but never got a chance to feature.

Hailing from Gopalganj in Bihar, Hussain comes from a modest background, with his father working as a farmer and the sole earner in the family. Initially aspiring to join the army, his path changed when he began playing tennis-ball cricket at the local level. Financial struggles were a constant companion, so much so that his mother had to sell her jewellery to help him afford his first pair of cricket spikes. The 21-year-old began his professional journey with Bihar, making his debut in the 2022/23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His first outing at just 17 years old was tough, conceding 27 runs in two overs. However, he bounced back strongly in the same season, picking up four wickets against Gujarat.

While consistency eluded him in subsequent domestic seasons, Hussain showed promise with a five-wicket tally in the latest SMAT edition. He also impressed in the Ranji Trophy, including a ten-wicket match haul against Arunachal Pradesh.
Now sharing the spotlight with Hinge, Hussain’s journey reflects grit and perseverance. The IPL may just be the platform where his potential truly unfolds.
