A 37-year-old teaching assistant from Dorset, England, has uncovered a collection of valuable Pokémon cards while clearing out his childhood home. As per the report of NDTV, experts now estimate the cards could fetch the equivalent of several lakh rupees at auction.
Andrew Braund made the discovery while sorting through belongings at his family's property. Initially dismissing the find, he assumed the entire collection was worth no more than £500. A subsequent visit to a trading card shop revealed a vastly different picture, as cited by NDTV.

The cards and their estimated values
According to the report of NDTV, three cards in Braund's collection stand out for their rarity and condition. A mint-condition Skyridge Charizard holo card has been valued between approximately Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. A near-mint version of the same card carries an estimated worth of around Rs 12,68,798, while a reverse-holo Skyridge Charizard rounds out the trio, valued between Rs 2,03,012 and Rs 2,79,173.
The auction
The report further stated that the cards are being sold through Ewbank's Auctions, which is also offering several other items of collector interest. These include a factory-sealed display of the original 1999 preconstructed theme decks, designed to introduce new players to the game, and a complete 1st Edition Team Rocket set, estimated between Rs 3,17,266 and Rs 5,07,568.
Despite their considerable monetary value, Braund stated he has little personal attachment to the Charizard cards, noting that the ones he truly cherished as a child are now worn and damaged from constantly carrying them around.

Wedding on the horizon
Braund plans to use the money from the sale for his upcoming wedding. His wedding to Rachel Mosley is scheduled for August. He hopes the money will cover a significant part of the expenses. This is much more than he expected from a normal house clean-up.
