CSK’s fortress, Chepauk invaded once again as PBKS found a win against the yellow brigade, successfully chasing 209 runs. It was Chennai’s seventh straight loss in their home ground, where a mix of bad planning led them to their second loss in the early stages of the season. After 2022, CSK has lost their first two matches. For the yellow army batting wise there are lot of improvements but the main concerns remain CSK’s bowling, Priyansh Arya a domestic uncapped batter smashed Matt Henry for fun also captaincy and execution could be much better than that, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad backs the young stars in the pre-match press conference saying allow them to make mistakes but today when the majority of the team did well in the batting CSK’s lost almost confirmed in the powerplay of PBKS innings where planning could have been much better.

Fleming explained the situation

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Flaming said, “That was our first real under-pressure run. We were below where we needed to be, where we have been operating and training, but there’s a lot of pressure on bowling units, especially in good conditions.”

Adding to that, he also said, “That was the first game on our home ground. It looks like a good wicket, so we’re going to have to be a lot better defensively because some of the batting is of high quality and it’s aggressive, and if they have a (good) day, it’s very difficult.”

Talking about the team, he said, “It’s a difficult task, but I think we’ve got some really good talent. There are five or six new players who have started this season, but we think they are of high value moving forward with their performances this year. We’re certainly confident in our bowling attack.”

Ruturaj thinks a couple of good overs could help them to win

Ruturaj, the captain of CSK, said about the score in the post-match presentation ceremony, “I felt it was a really good score, to be honest. Wicket was, yes, it was better for fast bowlers, but I felt it was slightly gripping for spinners, not coming on to the bat nicely. Slower balls were gripping as well. So, I think, you know, for this ground, especially with, you know, big boundaries, I felt it was a really good score.”

Also, talking about the match situation, he said, “ I think the pressure didn't really build. I think there was a point where it went to 11 and over, and then maybe a couple of good overs from there. It would have climbed to 12 and 13. That's how you gain momentum. So I think we just didn't get that momentum in the middle. It's definitely a tough one, but as I said, a lot of positives. You know, the batting came out really well.”

CSK will next face RCB on April 5 at Bengaluru from 7.30 pm.
