Actress Parineeti Chopra has taken to social media to stand by her husband Raghav Chadha after he was removed from his position as deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha.

The development comes after the party appointed Ashok Mittal to the post and informed the Rajya Sabha secretariat of the change.

Within hours of the decision, Chadha took to Instagram and uploaded a video consisting of clips of speeches that he made in Parliament, where he addressed topics like taxation for the middle class, data privacy, air pollution, food adulteration, and increased prices in industries like aviation and health care.

Parineeti Chopra shares video in support

Chopra re-shared the video on her Instagram Stories, signalling her support amid the political development.

In the video, Chadha questions the circumstances around his removal, saying: “Whenever I get a chance to speak in Parliament, I raise public issues… But is raising public issues a crime? Have I committed a mistake?”

He adds that the issues he raised were intended to reflect public concerns.

Chopra has previously voiced support for Chadha’s parliamentary work. Earlier, when he spoke about paternity leave in the Rajya Sabha, she had shared a note backing his stance, describing it as rooted in their own experience of parenting.

Political move and speculation

The change in leadership has stirred some debate in the political arena, but the leaders of the party have stated that it is just an organisational change. No official statement has been made from the party concerning this change as a form of punishment.
