Indiaâs love for ice cream has received global recognition after TasteAtlas included five Indian favourites in its list of the worldâs 100 most iconic ice creams.
From Mumbaiâs famous wafer ice cream sandwiches to Bengaluruâs rich chocolate desserts, the list highlights some of the countryâs most well-known frozen treats that have built loyal fan followings over the years.
Mumbaiâs iconic flavours make the cut
Among the Indian entries was the popular ice cream sandwich from K. Rustom & Co.. Founded in 1953, the Mumbai outlet is known for serving slabs of ice cream between crisp wafers. Its mango flavour remains one of the most recognised offerings.
Another Mumbai favourite to feature on the list was Naturals Ice Cream for its tender coconut ice cream. The flavour, made using real coconut pieces, has become one of the brandâs signature offerings over the years.

Apsara Ice Creams also earned a place on the rankings with its guava ice cream. Inspired by the spicy guava commonly sold by street vendors, the flavour combines sweet fruit with a hint of masala.
Bengaluru and Mangaluru desserts recognised
Bengaluruâs Corner House was featured for its famous âDeath By Chocolateâ dessert. The layered treat includes chocolate cake, ice cream, chocolate sauce, cream and nuts, and has remained one of the cityâs most popular dessert orders for decades.

Meanwhile, Pabba's secured a spot for its well-known âGadbadâ ice cream. The dessert combines fruits, nuts, jelly, syrups and multiple ice cream flavours in one serving.
Fans celebrate iconic flavours online
Several Reddit users also reacted to the recognition, especially for Naturalsâ tender coconut flavour, which many described as a long-time favourite. One Reddit user wrote, âNaturals tender coconut is pure love.â
The TasteAtlas list has once again brought attention to Indiaâs regional dessert culture and the nostalgia attached to these classic ice cream brands.
