Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman commenced the announcement of the Union Budget 2026, saying that the government is guided by three 'kartavyas'.
FM Sitharaman said that the three 'kartavyas' of the government are accelerating growth, fulfilling the aspirations of the people while building their capacity, and 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas'.
The Finance Minister has also announced that 10 thousand crores will be allocated by the government for the development of Bio farmers.
FM met President before presenting Budget
Before presenting the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman went to Rashtrapati Bhavan and met with President Droupadi Murmu. She had the digital 'ledger book' with her. Following tradition, the President fed Nirmala curd and sugar before the budget presentation.

Gold-silver prices crashed before Budget
Prices of gold and silver dipped by nine per cent each on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) on Sunday, just before Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget for the financial year 2026-27. The precious metals have faced one of the highest two-day sell-offs in history, NDTV reported.
