Following a directive from the Supreme Court of India, the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court has ordered the formation of three-member committees in every district to supervise the verification and disposal of SIR documents. The scrutiny process will begin on Monday.

With little time left, meetings and training sessions were held on Sunday. Representatives of the Election Commission of India met district judges and judicial officers to brief them on how the work will proceed. The High Court has made it clear that the verification must start immediately.

At 4 PM on Sunday, the Chief Justice and the Registrar General of the Calcutta High Court were scheduled to hold a virtual meeting with district judges. The focus was on explaining the supervisory role of judicial officers in the SIR process.

District-level committees and training

Three-member committees have been set up in each district. Judicial officers selected by the High Court will monitor the verification of SIR documents. Since the deadline is tight, training sessions were organised across districts on Sunday itself.

Officials said the purpose of Sunday's meeting was to ensure there is no delay once the process begins. With verification starting Monday, judicial officers have been asked to strictly supervise the scrutiny work as per the Supreme Court's direction.

The High Court aims to ensure transparency and timely completion of the SIR verification process across all districts.
