A savoury amalgamation of traditional and home-cooked food bursting with international flavours came to life with the launch of the much-anticipated cookbook, Kaberi'r Rannaghar, by author Kaberi Biswas on January 23.
The book was launched at the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair at the Boi Mela Prangan, in Salt Lake.

Part one of a three-book series
Aiming to bring global cuisines into everyday kitchens through a Bengali perspective, this cookbook is the first of a three-book series. It has been published by Pragya Publication.
Several dignitaries graced the event from a myriad of fields, including food, publishing, hospitality and entrepreneurship. The book launch featured esteemed guests such as Subrata Dutta, Indrajit Lahiri, Tridib Kumar Chatterjee, Sudhanshu Shekhar De, Chef Palak Chatterjee and Chef Jayant Banerjee, turning the occasion into a dignified and memorable experience for everyone present.
Global recipes served on a platter
Kaberi'r Rannaghar stands out for its fresh and practical style. It offers global recipes, including Continental, Chinese, Parsi and Afghani, in a way that makes them easy to prepare in a home kitchen. The first volume contains salads, snacks and selected chicken recipes. Traditional dishes like 'dal' and 'shukto' have been intentionally left out to give readers a new taste experience.

Kaberi Biswas said the book comes straight from her heart and kitchen and highlighted that it weaves all the experiences she gained as a child under the guidance of her mother along with her professional training.
More than a mere collection of recipes, the book aims to connect cultures through food. The book is a fruit of nearly seven months of toil, said Biswas. Future volumes will include traditional Bengali dishes and baked items, further enriching the series.
