Kolkata Metro to operate on reduced schedule on Republic Day; Green, Purple, and Orange Lines unaffected

Kolkata Metro to run fewer trains on Blue and Yellow Line on Republic Day, January 26; Green, Purple and Orange Lines remain unchanged.

Kolkata Metro has announced its operational timetable for Republic Day, indicating a reduction in the number of metros operated on that day, affecting the Blue Line and Yellow Line. On the Blue Line, 182 metros will run instead of the usual 272, with 91 trains on the up line and 91 on the down line. On the Yellow Line, 92 metros will operate instead of 120, divided equally with 46 on the up line and 46 on the down line.

While the adjustments for the Blue and Yellow Lines have been announced, many commuters are wondering about the Green Line. So far, Metro Railway has made no official statement regarding it. Some suggest that no changes may be made to the Green Line, considering the ongoing book fair and the holiday, which are expected to attract large crowds. Services on the Purple Line and Orange Line will remain unchanged.

Metro Timings for First and Last Trains

For the Blue Line, the first metro from Shaheed Khudiram to Dakshineswar and from Noapara to Shaheed Khudiram will depart at 6:50 AM. The first metro from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Dakshineswar and from Dakshineswar to Shaheed Khudiram will depart at 6:55 AM.

The last metro timings for the Blue Line are slightly adjusted: the Dakshineswar to Shaheed Khudiram metro will depart at 9:28 PM; from Shaheed Khudiram to Dakshineswar at 9:33 PM instead of 9:35 PM; and from Shaheed Khudiram to Dumdum at 9:45 PM instead of 9:44 PM.

On the Yellow Line, the first metro from Noapara to Jai Hind Airport remains at 7:18 AM, and from Jai Hind Airport to Noapara at 7:40 AM. The last metro from Noapara to Jai Hind Airport will depart at 8:58 PM instead of 9:00 PM, and from Jai Hind Airport to Noapara at 9:18 PM instead of 9:20 PM.
