A jewellery shop typically means gold, silver, and dazzling diamond jewellery arranged in showcases. This misconception of yours could be shattered at stall number 291 of the 49th International Kolkata Book Fair. P.C. Chandra Jewellers has set up a stall at the 2026 book fair organised at Central Park in Salt Lake. It was inaugurated on Saturday by Sri Arunkumar Chandra, Managing Director of P.C. Chandra Group. If you visit this stall, instead of jewellery, you will find various types of books. These books highlight the history of Bengali commerce and the success stories of Bengali entrepreneurs.

Along with inaugurating the stall at the Kolkata International Book Fair, a book titled 'Lakshmi Purush' was also launched by P.C. Chandra Group. The book has been written by author-journalist Sri Ashok Basu.
The book presents the tradition of Bengali business and the stories of entrepreneurs. Additionally, at the jewellery company's stall, you will find multiple books like 'Chhaya O Chhobi', 'Story of Rare Diamonds', 'Durlabh Hirer Kahini', 'Sonar Sahitya', and 'Swarnakshar'. Reading these will allow readers to learn many unknown histories of jewellery and rare diamonds.
P.C. Chandra Group has been associated with the International Kolkata Book Fair for more than a decade. This reflects the group's commitment to literature and culture. With this goal, the history of Bengal's traditional business has been presented through the recently published book.

Inaugurating the stall at the book fair, P.C. Chandra Group's Managing Director, Arunkumar Chandra, said, "We are extremely delighted. The book has been launched with everyone's cooperation. We thank everyone."
Joint Managing Director of P.C. Chandra Jewellers, Shubhra Chandra, said, "Books are a medium. Through which we highlight various aspects. This year, the book Lakshmi Purush has been published. Our legendary ancestors did such good business that an attempt has been made to remind us of this through this medium."
General Secretary of Publishers & Booksellers Guild, Tridib Chattopadhyay, said about this book, "Bengalis worship Saraswati. But alongside Saraswati, the book is about those few Bengali entrepreneurs who have made their place in history. Their stories are not written separately anywhere. P.C. Chandra Jewellers does something or the other for books and literature every year. P.C. Chandra Jewellers has achieved the top position in the gold industry not just of Bengal, but of the entire country. But they always have a thought about how to blend industry with literature, how to merge Lakshmi with literature."
