Allegations were raised against a man last December that he hacked his girlfriend inside the house and then committed suicide by jumping from a multi-storey building. This caused quite a commotion in the Posta area. Kolkata Police have now arrested the girlfriend, Shikha Singh, in connection with the unnatural death of that young man. Investigators want to ascertain whether there was an instigation to suicide in that day's incident, or whether he was pushed from the balcony. However, preliminary investigation has revealed that Shikha was involved in the young man's death.
While trying to solve the mystery of the death of 40-year-old Rajendra Sharma about two months ago, investigating officers found several suspicious facts against Shikha. They want to take Shikha into custody and reach the next stage of the investigation. The incident began on December 16 last year at Shib Thakur Lane in Posta. Rajendra had been in contact with her since the time Shikha's husband, Dipu Singh, was alive. The allegation is that intimacy developed between the two after her husband's death. Police have learned that the young man reached Shikha's house early in the morning on the day of the incident. Within a short time, local businessmen and residents of Posta saw him lying in a bloodied condition below the multi-storey building.

When police went to the scene, they found that Shikha's body was also injured. She claimed that the young man had come with the intention of killing her. Rajendra hacked randomly and jumped from the balcony. The mysterious death incident took another turn after Rajendra's father lodged a complaint. He claimed that Shikha had a role in his son's death. However, lying on a hospital bed, Shikha had given a statement that Rajendra had jumped with the knife in hand after hacking her. She had also tried to save Rajendra. Along with blood samples from the third-floor balcony, the recovered knife was also forensically examined. That report has already reached the police.

Investigating officers have received several 'clues' from that report. The question arises: Did Rajendra really commit suicide by jumping with a knife in hand? Or did they come to the edge of the balcony during the scuffle? Did Shikha then push Rajendra? Later, Shikha had fallen ill. There were also injuries on her body. After recovering, police arrested Shikha on murder charges.
