A sensation has erupted in Sonarpur following allegations that a young woman was raped by an official of the Land Reforms Department. According to information available, the accused, identified as Amit Dey, was known to the survivor’s family through personal connections.
The complaint alleges that the official exploited this familiarity and subjected the young woman to repeated sexual assault over several years, taking advantage of the trust placed in him. The matter is currently under investigation.

It is also alleged that he used to blackmail her by spreading objectionable photos of intimate moments with the young woman on social media. The incident came to light recently when arrangements for the young woman's marriage began.
On Monday, the young woman's family filed a complaint at the police station against Amit. Based on this, the police arrested Amit.
The young woman told police that her father is a plumber. In 2019, her father had gone to Amit's house for pipeline work. Through this connection, a close relationship developed between the two families.
At that time, the accused took the young woman away from home to other places multiple times and raped her. The young woman claims she was a minor at that time. She was also blackmailed by showing her obscene photos and videos to family members.

The matter came to light recently when the young woman's marriage was arranged. The young woman claims that the accused himself went to the groom's house and informed them about this incident.
After the marriage was called off, the young woman's family went to the Sonarpur police station on Monday and filed a complaint. Based on the complaint, police arrested the accused Amit Dey on Monday night. It has been learned that the accused is married and also has children.
