Another tragic road accident in New Town. On Wednesday afternoon, a delivery boy died in a head-on collision between two motorbikes on Bagjola Khalpara road. The deceased has been identified as Giyasuddin Molla (25), a resident of Nawabad village in Bhangar.

According to police sources, Giyasuddin worked for an online product delivery company in New Town. He had gotten married just eight months ago. Besides his wife, he stayed with his parents. He had bought a new motorbike at the time of his wedding. Giyasuddin was the sole breadwinner of the family. On Wednesday around noon, Giyasuddin was riding his motorbike from Chapna Godown in Bagjola Khalpara towards Sapurji for online delivery work. At that time, a motorbike and a car were approaching at high speed from the opposite direction.

According to allegations, the rider from the opposite direction lost control and crashed into Giyasuddin's bike, causing him to fly off and land on the bonnet of a car. He suffered severe injuries to his chest and head. Eyewitnesses claim that due to the intensity of the collision, the young man's helmet flew off his head.

Series of fatal accidents raises alarm

As a result, he sustained serious head injuries. He collapsed on the road. Upon receiving the news, Technocity police station officers quickly arrived, rescued the injured person and took him to the hospital. However, doctors declared him dead. Due to the intensity of the collision, Giyasuddin's motorbike was completely mangled.

In the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate area, particularly in New Town, reports of road accidents have been emerging one after another for the past few days. In January alone, at least 5 people have lost their lives. On the night of January 13, two young men died in a head-on collision between two bikes on this same road, i.e., the New Town-Jatragachhi Bagjola Khalpara road. Before that, on the evening of January 6, a driver died when an engine van overturned on Pathorghata-Badamtala Road. On the night of January 18, two people were seriously injured when a car hit a divider and overturned in front of Balaka Housing.

Wednesday's accident has once again claimed the life of a young man prematurely. The question arises: when will this procession of death stop! But the question that is now circulating in this so-called smart city is whether accidents are actually decreasing in reality.
