Controversy has peaked around a video that went viral on social media. The allegation is of putting train AC compartment bedsheets into a bag. A BJP leader's name got involved in this. That leader joined the BJP in 2021. He is also a lawyer. On Monday, he was going from Chinsurah to Siuri court on the Howrah Express. A video from that train has gone viral. In it, he is accused of putting the bedsheets provided by the railway for passengers into his bag.

Political reactions and counter-allegations

Trinamool has been in the field since Tuesday morning over this issue. Arindam Guin, organizational district president of the party's Hooghly Srirampur, said, "He is also the convenor of BJP's legal cell. He was caught trying to steal bedsheets. A lawyer fights for justice, yet this is his conduct!" A post has also been made about this incident on the All India Trinamool Congress Facebook page.

However, that BJP leader's statement is, "Before this video, attempts were made to throw me off the train. When I went to the toilet, these same people pushed me from behind. 30-40 minutes later there was shouting and commotion. I said come let's talk. Then they said, 'Do you support theft?' After that they started making my video. Did anyone see me putting something into my bag or taking something out of my bag? Where I was standing wasn't even my seat. And they could have informed the GRP, RPF then. I am certain this was done in a planned manner to damage my reputation."
