Despite lacking adequate infrastructure, doctors at Shantipur State General Hospital successfully performed a complex surgery on a patient, demonstrating medical competence under constrained conditions. Where the doctors have successfully removed a life-threatening tumour from a patient's body.
Hasina Bibi (43), a resident of Berpara in Shantipur, Nadia, was admitted to Shantipur State General Hospital with abdominal pain. Medical examination revealed that she had a massive tumor in her uterus, the weight of which kept increasing with each passing day. After conducting various tests, doctors advised her to undergo surgery.

Due to financial constraints, treatment at a nursing home was not possible for Hasina’s family. As a result, Shantipur State General Hospital became their only option. Hasina was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, where gynaecologist Dr Pabitro Byapari and his team kept her under observation.
On Tuesday afternoon, doctors successfully carried out the surgery. Although the hospital does not have its own blood bank, the medical team arranged the necessary blood themselves. After a lengthy operation, the doctors managed to remove a five-kilogram tumour from Hasina’s abdomen.

Dr Pabitro Byapari said, “Hasina’s surgery was extremely challenging for us. Despite not having adequate infrastructure, we decided to take the risk and perform the operation. Currently, Hasina is completely healthy and out of danger. She will be discharged from the hospital very soon.”
Hasina’s husband, Pintuuddin Ali, said, “I never imagined we could receive such high-quality service at a government hospital. I salute the doctors.”
