Allegations of transporting a Bangladeshi woman from one place to another without valid documents in exchange for money. On Tuesday, CID arrested a person named Chinmoy Das (56) and a woman named Fatema from outside Howrah Station. Chinmoy's home is in Bongaon. Investigators are also examining whether Chinmoy has any connection to human trafficking. The arrested individuals were presented in Howrah court on Tuesday itself. The judge ordered them to be kept in police custody for seven days.
What exactly are the charges against Chinmoy?
CID came to know about Chinmoy's misdeeds through secret sources. Investigators learned that on Tuesday, Chinmoy was arranging to send a 23-year-old Bangladeshi woman named Fatema elsewhere. CID caught them red-handed as soon as they got off the bus with Fatema on Tuesday.

Chinmoy Das, a resident of Bongaon, is a garment trader by profession. However, for some time now he has been doing tailoring work from home. A few days ago, he became acquainted with Afzal, a resident of Talikhola in Bongaon. Afzal is accused of bringing illegal entrants through the Bongaon border to Chinmoy. It is alleged that Chinmoy would then transport these infiltrators to various places in exchange for one thousand rupees.
On Tuesday, Afzal had given him a mobile phone number on a slip of paper and asked him to go to Howrah. When Chinmoy called that number from outside Howrah Station, investigators arrested him. The rescued woman gave a confidential statement to the judge. Investigators also suspect that Chinmoy Das is connected to a human trafficking ring. The search for Afzal is ongoing.
