A 38-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal was found dead in Bengaluru on Tuesday morning under unexplained circumstances, police said. The incident occurred on the day of Holi and has triggered shock in his hometown of Dubrajpur in Birbhum district.
The deceased, identified as Gaurasundar Hazra, had been living in Bengaluru for the past three years, where he worked as a security guard for a private organisation. He was staying in a shared accommodation.
Found unconscious in room
According to police and local sources, Hazra had dinner on Monday night and went to sleep. On Tuesday morning, colleagues went to call him for work and found him lying unconscious on the floor of his room.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival. The hospital later informed his family in Dubrajpur.
Police in Bengaluru have started an investigation. The body has been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Family claims he was healthy
Hazra's father, Shyamal Hazra, left for Bengaluru to bring back his son;s body. Before leaving, he said, "In the morning, I learned that his unconscious body had been recovered. Later in the day, I received news of his death from the hospital".
He added that his son had no known health issues and was completely healthy.
The news of the death has cast a shadow of grief over Ward No. 13 of Dubrajpur municipality, where the family resides.

Local leaders reach out
After the news broke, Dubrajpur municipality chairman Piyush Pandey and former MLA Naresh Chandra Bauri visited the bereaved family. They assured support in completing formalities and bringing the body home.
Pandey described the death as mysterious. He said, "I cannot understand how a healthy young man could die like this. The matter is mysterious."
He added that the Bengaluru administration is being contacted. According to Pande, "I hope we can complete the necessary procedures and bring the body back to the village on Wednesday."
Further details are awaited pending the post-mortem report.
