The political atmosphere heated up across Khanakul and Pursurah after obscene posters surfaced in the names of BJP MLAs. The posters, which appeared in multiple locations, sparked sharp exchanges between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), with both sides blaming each other.
In Khanakul, posters targeting BJP MLA Susanta Ghosh described him in derogatory terms and featured objectionable imagery. The incident triggered protests by BJP workers and supporters, who burned an effigy of the Chief Minister in front of Khanakul police station. The demonstration was led by Susanta Ghosh himself.

BJP alleges ‘dirty politics’, issues strong warning
Reacting strongly, Susanta Ghosh accused the Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the poster campaign.
“Trinamool has started the ultimate level of dirty politics. They have put up posters with distasteful comments in the names of four MLAs. They can no longer cope with the BJP,” he alleged.
He further warned that if police fail to arrest those responsible, the BJP would launch a larger protest across Khanakul.
Ghosh also named Trinamool state secretary Swapan Nandi and youth leader Palash Roy, alleging they were involved in putting up the posters. He stated that a complaint has been filed at the local police station.

Trinamool denies involvement, blames BJP factionalism
Denying the allegations, Swapan Nandi said the BJP was attempting to create drama due to internal conflicts.
“BJP MLA Susanta Ghosh has started a new dirty game. BJP knows they can never come to power in Bengal, so they are creating drama to heat up the political atmosphere. Everyone knows how many factions BJP has in Khanakul. This is the result of their internal clash. Now they want to blame Trinamool,” Nandi said.
Similar controversy erupts in Pursurah
A similar situation unfolded in Pursurah, where posters targeted BJP MLA Biman Ghosh. The posters carried provocative slogans and were styled like cinema advertisements, creating further controversy in the area.
Biman Ghosh expressed anger over the incident and released CCTV footage allegedly showing individuals putting up the posters. He also directed allegations towards Trinamool leaders and named Palash Roy in connection with the incident.
