A surprising moment unfolded at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Singur, Hooghly, when the theme song of the ‘Sebaashray’ health camp was heard just as he took the stage. The song, associated with Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee’s program in the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency, immediately sparked a commotion on social media. Trinamool leaders have since made jibes over the incident.

From early December last year, Abhishek Banerjee launched the second phase of ‘Sebaashray’ health camps in every assembly constituency of the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat. A specific theme song was created to promote the program, and it is played widely during these camps. Recently, similar camps have also been organised in Nandigram in East Midnapore.

The rally moment and social media buzz

Before attending the public meeting on Saturday, Modi inaugurated multiple projects. He then appeared at the rally in Singur, where slogans were being chanted welcoming the Prime Minister. Suddenly, the line “Sebaashray 2 niye…” could be heard. The song plays for only a few seconds on the BJP, West Bengal official Facebook page, but it was enough to generate discussion online.

Political reactions and clarifications

The Trinamool leadership was quick to respond. Singur MLA Becharam Manna said that in Bengal, BJP workers are well aware of the work Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee have done in the state, suggesting that the party’s actions were a reaction to this awareness. State Transport Minister Snehashis Chakraborty shared a related video on Facebook, noting that the Prime Minister had also expressed trust in Abhishek Banerjee's Sebaashray initiative.

On the other hand, former BJP Srirampur district president Mohan Adak denied the claims, calling them false rumours and asserting that the people of Bengal recognise the need for change. He stated that the BJP would form the government in the upcoming elections and that it was only a matter of time. A top BJP leader also described the incident as being caused by "technical" reasons.
