The swearing-in of newly elected MLAs began on Wednesday with Suvendu Adhikari taking the oath first as the representative from Bhabanipur, marking the start of a two-day ceremony at the Assembly. Upon arriving at the Assembly premises, Adhikari garlanded the statue of B. R. Ambedkar. Before stepping into the building, he knelt as a mark of respect. Inside, he also performed a puja.
A guard of honour was presented to the Chief Minister during the proceedings. Adhikari later shared a video of these moments on Facebook.

Senior leaders follow in oath-taking sequence
After Adhikari, several other leaders took the oath in succession. Among them were Dilip Ghosh, Ashok Kirtania, Khudiram Tudu and Nishith Pramanik. The oath was administered by Pro-tem Speaker Tapas Roy.
District-wise schedule for oath ceremony
As per sources, MLAs from nine northern districts, along with Murshidabad, were scheduled to take oath in the first half of the day. Around 76 MLAs were to be sworn in between 11 AM and 1:30 PM.

The second phase, from 2 PM to 4:30 PM, was set aside for another 80 MLAs. This group includes representatives from Nadia, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas.
The remaining MLAs from 11 districts are expected to take the oath on Thursday. Pro-tem Speaker Tapas Roy will continue to administer the oath to all members.
