Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Security Council, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has strongly condemned Iran’s recent missile strikes, describing them as violations of the sovereignty of Gulf nations. He also expressed grief over the death of a Pakistani citizen in the United Arab Emirates, reportedly caused by falling debris linked to the attack.
‘Blatant violations’ of Gulf sovereignty
Speaking during a Security Council meeting, Ahmad criticised Tehran’s actions, calling them “blatant violations of the sovereignty of the brotherly Gulf States.”
His remarks come amid escalating tensions in the region, with several Gulf countries placed on high alert following missile and drone activity.
Civilian casualty reported amid regional escalation
A Pakistani national has reportedly died in the United Arab Emirates following airstrikes linked to the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran. According to initial reports, the individual was caught in the impact zone of the strikes, which targeted strategic sites amid rising hostilities in the region. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and coordinating with Pakistani officials. The tragedy has heightened concerns about civilian safety as military operations intensify, prompting renewed calls for restraint and diplomatic efforts to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
Condolences over the Pakistani national’s death
Ahmad also addressed the reported death of a Pakistani national in the UAE. Local authorities have stated that the individual was killed by falling debris associated with a missile strike.
“Pakistan also condemns the unfortunate death of a Pakistani national in the UAE during this dastardly attack,” he said.

Call for restraint
Urging de-escalation, Ahmad called on all parties involved to avoid further actions that could destabilise the region. “We urge all sides to refrain from any further actions that may undermine the security and territorial integrity of other regional countries,” he said.
