A 23-year-old Indian student from Andhra Pradesh died in a house fire in London. The incident took place on Monday night, local time, in the Croydon area of South London.
The deceased has been identified as G Abhishek. He was a resident of Peddapuram town in Andhra Pradesh. He had moved to London in 2023 to pursue an MBA. After completing his studies, he stayed back to build his career.
The fire broke out in the two-storey house where he was living. According to media reports, both floors were engulfed in flames before the fire brigade reached the spot. Rescue teams pulled him out of the building. However, he was declared dead at the scene.
What caused the death?
As per media sources, investigators suspect that Abhishek may have died due to smoke inhalation. The exact cause will be confirmed after further examination.

Two other people were also affected in the fire. One of them is said to be in critical condition. The other person was hospitalised due to smoke-related health issues.
Family informed, repatriation process begins
Abhishek's father is a government employee in Andhra Pradesh. He works as a Community Health Officer. According to media reports, the family has been informed about the tragedy.

Officials have started the process to repatriate the body to India. Further investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. The incident has left the local Indian community in shock.
