At least seven people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting spree across multiple locations in Iowa, United States, in what authorities described as an apparent domestic dispute.
The incidents took place in the city of Muscatine on Monday and involved two residences as well as a business location. Police referred to the case as a āseries of homicidesā connected to the same suspect, per a report by NDTV.
Four victims found inside home
According to a statement from the Muscatine Police Department, officers were first called to a residence on Park Avenue at approximately 12:12 pm after reports of a shooting.

When police officers and emergency responders reached the scene, they discovered four people inside the house suffering from gunshot wounds. Authorities said all four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, per NDTV report.
Investigators later identified the suspected shooter as Ryan Willis McFarland, 52, of Muscatine. Police said McFarland had already left the residence before officers arrived.

Suspect found with self-inflicted gunshot wound
Law enforcement officials tracked McFarland a short time later near a pedestrian bridge. Authorities said he was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Officers and paramedics attempted to provide medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As investigators continued to piece together the timeline, detectives uncovered two additional deaths connected to the case.

Additional victims discovered
Police said one man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound at another residence on Mill Street, while another victim was discovered at a nearby business on Grandview Avenue.
Authorities believe all the victims were family members of the suspect.

Police said preliminary findings suggest the shootings stemmed from a domestic-related dispute. However, officials have not yet released the names or ages of the victims.
Media reports indicated that McFarland had a criminal record, though authorities have not shared further details regarding his past.
