While social media abounds with gossip about the potential shortage of Diet Coke, one restaurant in Delhi has decided to take a different approach by organising a party that celebrates nothing but the refreshing drink.

The Pan-Asian restaurant called Red, located in Basant Lok Market, Vasant Vihar, is planning a “Diet Coke Party” to be held on April 26, Saturday starting 5 pm.

The event will focus on the concept of bringing together fans of the popular drink who have played a huge role in popularising the drink in the last few weeks, especially among Gen Z members.

What the party offers

With DJ music, floating snacks, and even Diet Coke drinks on tap – up to two cans per person, there is sure to be something for everyone at the event. The drink will even have its own DIY station, where people can mix up their own versions of it, while projection mapping and icebreaker games aim to keep the crowd entertained.

The entry tickets would cost around ₹1,179, which is about the same as buying 29 cans of Diet Coke. The average price of Diet Coke per can is approximately ₹40.

It will be open exclusively for people who are 18 years and older. Moreover, participants will have to follow the red-silver color scheme for their attire.

Excitement and scepticism

The announcement has triggered mixed reactions online. While many users expressed excitement, some are calling it a “must-attend”—others questioned the pricing, with one user asking, “₹1200 for a sober party?”

Still, the turnout is expected to reflect the kind of cultural moment Diet Coke is currently enjoying, somewhere between a lifestyle choice and a social media identity.
