Mumbai Indians never really found momentum after a shaky start. Will Jacks departed for just 1, putting early pressure on the middle order. A brief recovery came through Ryan Rickelton (37) and Naman Dhir, who played the most impactful innings with a well-compiled 57 off 37 balls. However, inconsistency plagued the rest of the lineup. Suryakumar Yadav got a start but fell for 21, while Tilak Varma (5) and skipper Hardik Pandya (18) failed to convert.
CSK’s bowling unit kept things tight throughout. Anshul Kamboj stood out with an impressive 3/32, while Noor Ahmad chipped in with two wickets. MI eventually finished at a modest 159/7 — a total that always looked below par.
Ruturaj and Kartik seal clinical chase
In response, Chennai Super Kings had a brief wobble early on as Sanju Samson (11) and Urvil Patel (24) fell cheaply. But that was the only moment of hope for MI. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad anchored the innings with authority. His unbeaten 67 off 48 balls showcased composure and control, marking back-to-back half-centuries and reinforcing his leadership at the top.

Alongside him, debutant Kartik Sharma delivered a standout performance. The youngster scored a fluent 54* off 39 balls, showing maturity beyond his experience. He also hit the winning runs, capping off a memorable debut.
CSK chased down the target with just two wickets lost and 11 balls to spare, underlining their dominance.
Kartik shines on debut, enters record books
Kartik Sharma’s debut knock quickly turned heads across the league. His composed half-century not only helped seal victory but also etched his name into franchise records. He became one of the youngest players to score a fifty for CSK on debut, highlighting the team’s strong bench strength.
