A judge in the national capital was found dead at his residence in Delhi’s Safdarjung area on Saturday, triggering an investigation by police and sending shockwaves through the legal fraternity. Authorities suspect suicide, though the circumstances leading to the death are yet to be fully established.
The deceased has been identified as Aman Kumar Sharma, who was serving as Secretary at the District Legal Services Authority in Karkardooma Court. His sudden death has raised concerns within legal circles, with colleagues and officials awaiting further clarity on the case.
Body discovered inside residence
According to India TV News, the police said they received a PCR call around 1.45 pm reporting a suspected suicide at a residence in the Safdarjung Enclave area. A team rushed to the spot and found Sharma’s body inside the bathroom of his home.
Preliminary findings suggest that he died by hanging. No suicide note has been recovered so far, leaving investigators to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
Forensic teams begin examination
Senior officers and forensic experts were deployed immediately after the discovery. The scene is being closely examined to rule out any possibility of foul play and to establish a clear sequence of events.
Officials said standard procedures are being followed, including documentation of evidence and interactions with family members and acquaintances who may provide insights into his recent circumstances.
