JD Vance recently shared a light-hearted insight into his marriage. He also opened up with the "best and worst" dishes he has cooked for his wife, Usha Vance. He further admitted that his first attempt was "actually inedible".
During an interview with Lara Trump, Vance was asked about his cooking skills after Usha had earlier remarked that he "did not know how to cook much" before they met.
From 'inedible' crescent rolls to perfecting Japanese shokupan: Vance’s kitchen journey
"The worst is very easy," Vance replied. "Usha's a vegetarian, and I am not. So I'm thinking to myself, what does a vegetarian eat?... So I went to the grocery store. I got those crescent rolls. I rolled them out like into a pizza shape...It was disgusting."
Recapping the past, he further remarked, "It’s amazing that the relationship lasted because that was the first time I ever cooked for her."
Even though the vice president said he has gradually improved his culinary skills. "The best thing I’ve ever cooked? I’m quite good at cooking now. I can make a pretty good brioche bread," he shared.
Usha Vance, who was part of the discussion, pointed to a more recent example of his progress. "Lately, it’s been Shokupan, the Japanese milk bread. He’s been perfecting it for a while now, and he does it really well," she added.

A peek into their personal life:
The conversation provided a rare glimpse into the couple’s personal life. Married since meeting at Yale Law School in 2010, the two have three young children, named Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel, and are expecting their fourth child, a boy, later this year. Vance has often acknowledged his wife as a constant source of support throughout his swift political ascent.
"I know her most of all as a great mom and a great wife, as a person who supports me, who's so good to the kids, and who makes it possible for them to grow up as normal kids," he said.
He also described her as someone who prefers to stay away from public attention. He added, "This is a person who doesn't really care about the limelight, who's not trying to sort of get out there in front of the crowds all the time, who just wants to give her kids a good life, and who wants to be as good a public servant as possible."
"I believe that’s what we should expect from our public leaders, and we certainly have that in our Second Lady," he further stated.
