Mohun Bagan Super Giants is all set to play their next fixture against Chennaiyin FC. After winning in the first match, the maroon and green brigade is high on confidence and also clarifies that they are trying to improve their game before heading towards the intense clash. As ISL has started with new hopes and goals, the new structure has become more challenging for the teams. As every team is set to play only one match against each other, every match is proving to be decisive for the teams.

Sergio Lobera explained the plans and approach

In the pre-match press conference, coach Sergio Lobera explained the plans and approach of the Mohun Bagan team ahead of their next clash against Chennaiyin FC, saying that starting the season with a win was crucial, but their objective now is absolute consistency, and they need to make their home ground a difficult place for any team to visit and it is their primary goal of the season. Analysing the opposition, Lobera added, “Chennaiyin have a new look this season. We have a fully focused squad, but the next game is always unpredictable. We want to be a positive, aggressive team, dictate the tempo, and ensure we do not drop our intensity against a very competitive Chennaiyin side from the first whistle.”

'We can improve'

On Sunday evening, the Mohun Bagan players participated in a practice session. They engaged in an intense fitness training routine and also performed various exercises with the ball. Goalkeeper Vishal Kaith was spotted having a particularly rigorous training session.

Talking about areas of improvement MBSG coach said, “We are winning, but we can improve. This is my job, I suppose, to analyse as a professional and from the last game, we need to be happy about the result, but we need to improve in a lot of things. And we need to work a lot on this.”

Adding to that, he also said, “You are giving the opponents chances to score. We scored the second goal, particularly at the end of the game. We indeed made some errors with the players, but all the mentality needs to be... If we are winning 1-0, we need to score the second goal. We need to be brave. “

Message for the Mohun Bagan supporters

Alongside the coach, last match's hero, Amey Ganesh Ranawade, was also present when News Ei Samay asked him about his mindset and the message he wants to send to supporters. He stated that they will strive to improve and aim to score as many goals as possible.

In the 2024-25 season, Mohun Bagan secured a 1-0 victory at home in this fixture courtesy of an 86th-minute goal from Jason Cummings. As the players were taking the field after a few months, they looked good and charged.
