So, it wasn’t entirely surprising when a viral video appeared to show Taylor Swift, arguably the world’s biggest pop star, performing in Jamnagar at an event reportedly organised by Isha Ambani.
However, what sparked doubt was the complete absence of any social media trace of Swift’s supposed secret India visit. Here’s the truth behind the viral claim - and who was actually behind the ‘Taylor Swift’ performance in India.
Taylor Swift at an Indian wedding - really?
Over the weekend, blurry clips from a lavish Indian celebration surfaced across social media. The caption also claimed that Taylor Swift had performed for the Ambani family. One such video featured a blonde singer who bore a resemblance to Swift performing on stage before a predominantly Indian audience. "OMGGG Taylor Swift in Jamnagar "unforgettable evening as the Ambani family welcomed Taylor Swift for a special performance," read the caption. Other claims were along similar lines.

If not Taylor Swift, then who?
A quick reverse image search confirmed that the videos were shot in Jamnagar, but the performer was not Taylor Swift. She has never performed in India, neither for a public concert nor a private event. Even the event had no connection with the Ambani family. The performer is Ashley Leechin, a famous Taylor Swift doppelganger who routinely 'performs' worldwide as a fake Taylor. The occasion was the wedding of Ahana Raheja and Yash Patel, two prominent business families from Gujarat.

Setting the record straight, stylist and fashion commentator Nishtha Gandhi shared one such video and wrote in the caption, "Wait, did Taylor Swift just perform at an Indian wedding?! The internet LOST it when videos from Ahana Raheja and Yash Patel's wedding in Jamnagar started circulating... and honestly? I don't blame anyone for believing it. The sparkling stage outfit. The hair. The presence.
But here's what nobody saw coming: this isn't Taylor Swift. This is Ashley Leechin Taylor's doppelganger, and she had an entire wedding crowd (and half of Instagram) completely fooled."
