Srinagar Airport suspends flights due to heavy snowfall; IndiGo alerts passengers

Flight operations at Srinagar Airport have been temporarily suspended after heavy snowfall in the region. Passengers have been advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport, as delays and cancellations are likely.

IndiGo Airlines issued a travel advisory saying that both take-offs and landings in Srinagar are currently on hold due to weather conditions. The airline warned that passengers may face extended waiting times and urged them to use available options to rebook flights or request refunds if their journey is affected.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the airline said, "Due to snowfall in Srinagar, flight operations, both take-offs and landings, have been temporarily put on hold. This may lead to extended wait times both onboard and on the ground. To ensure we are ready for departure as soon as we receive clearance, our team may complete boarding formalities in advance. We understand that delays can be inconvenient, and we assure you that our team remains fully committed to make your wait as comfortable as possible."

The airline also said that the weather is being closely monitored and passengers will be accommodated as soon as conditions permit. Customers have been advised to check their latest flight status before heading to the airport via the website. If a flight is impacted, options to rebook or request a refund are available on the airline’s website.

Srinagar Airport shares update due to heavy snowfall

Meanwhile, Srinagar Airport authorities also confirmed disruptions. Sharing an update on X, the official handle said, "Please note that some flights to or from Srinagar Airport stand cancelled as of now today due to a NOTAM in force at Delhi Airport and ongoing snowfall conditions at Srinagar. Passengers are advised to check the latest flight status with their respective airlines before planning their journey. We regret the inconvenience caused."

Passengers travelling to or from Srinagar are advised to stay updated with airline advisories as weather conditions continue to be monitored.
