Indian snacks and sweets giant is preparing to open its first full-service restaurant in the United Kingdom, marking a major step in the brand’s international expansion plans. The restaurant is expected to launch in London’s Leicester Square in June 2026, bringing the company’s popular Indian food offerings to one of the busiest dining and entertainment districts in the city.

According to a report by NDTV, the upcoming outlet will cover nearly 3,000 square feet and operate as a full-service dine-in restaurant. The move is considered significant because Haldiram’s has largely been known internationally for its packaged snacks, sweets and quick-service restaurant formats. The London venture is expected to offer customers a more elaborate dining experience with table service and an expanded menu.

What the restaurant will offer

Reports of NDTV suggest the Leicester Square restaurant will feature a wide range of Indian dishes inspired by regional cuisines from across the country. The menu is expected to include chaats, curries, breads, snacks, sweets and desserts that have become closely associated with the Haldiram’s brand over the decades.

Customers may also find several street food favourites and fusion-style dishes designed to suit local tastes in the UK market. The restaurant is expected to combine traditional Indian flavours with a modern casual dining atmosphere aimed at both tourists and residents.

Apart from dine-in services, the outlet is also likely to include retail sections where customers can purchase packaged snacks, sweets and ready-to-eat products. Reports said the restaurant could have a seating capacity for around 120 guests, along with outdoor seating arrangements.

Why Leicester Square is important

Leicester Square is one of London’s most prominent tourist and entertainment destinations, attracting large numbers of visitors every day. The area is home to theatres, cinemas, restaurants and international food chains, making it a high-visibility location for Haldiram’s UK debut. Industry observers see the choice of location as an attempt by the company to position itself strongly in the growing global market for Indian cuisine.

Indian food continues to enjoy widespread popularity in Britain, where curry houses and South Asian cuisine have long been part of the country’s food culture. However, Haldiram’s entry into the premium full-service restaurant space signals an effort to expand beyond its traditional identity as a snacks and sweets brand.

The brand’s journey from Bikaner to global markets

Haldiram’s traces its roots back to 1937, when it began as a small sweets and snacks shop in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Over the years, the company grew into one of India’s best-known food brands with operations across multiple countries and a strong presence in packaged food markets.

Its products, including bhujia, namkeen mixtures, sweets and frozen foods, are now sold in several international markets. The opening of a full-service restaurant in London is being viewed as another major milestone in the company’s overseas growth strategy as it looks to strengthen its presence outside India.
