Like every year, the Union Budget will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. The Union Budget of 2026 will mark Sitharaman's eighth presentation, and the second one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term. The Budget session is usually held in two sessions, the first part till mid-February, and the second part from the second week of March to the first week of April.
When will the Union Budget be presented?
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget for FY27 on February 1, at 11 AM in the Lok Sabha. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will be operational on February 1, despite it being a Sunday. The markets will operate between 9:15 AM and 3:30 AM, PTI reported.

The Economic Survey will be presented on the day preceding the Budget. It is an annual report prepared by the Ministry of Finance with recommendations from the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA). Along with reviewing overall economic performance in the past year and key sectors, the Economic Survey acts as a guide for the government on expenditure and collection of money, and makes predictions for the next year.

Where to watch the Union Budget 2026?
The Union Budget will be shown live on Sansad TV and live-streamed on its YouTube channel. Before presenting the Budget, the Finance Minister will join the 'Halwa Ceremony,' a long-standing tradition to acknowledge the hard work of Finance Ministry officials involved in the process of creating the Budget.
