The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing scrutiny over alleged security flaws in its re-examination portal.

The concerns surfaced shortly after controversy surrounding the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) digital systems, raising questions about the protection of sensitive educational data.

NTA portal comes under scrutiny

The spotlight has shifted to the NTA’s re-examination portal after cybersecurity researchers claimed to have identified vulnerabilities that could potentially expose administrative and user data. The allegations emerged on social media and quickly attracted attention from students, educators and cybersecurity observers.

The concerns include possible weaknesses related to administrative access controls and the handling of sensitive information. Researchers suggested that flaws in the system could create risks if left unaddressed, according to News18.

Concerns follow CBSE controversy

The latest claims come just days after allegations involving CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. A teenage cybersecurity researcher had earlier alleged vulnerabilities in the CBSE platform, claiming that examiner-level functions and sensitive data could be accessed through security gaps.

CBSE denied that its operational evaluation system had been compromised and maintained that the cited portal was only a testing environment, as per News18 reports.

The controversy surrounding CBSE prompted wider discussion about the security of digital platforms used by educational institutions and examination authorities.

Portal accessibility raises questions

Following reports about the alleged vulnerabilities, the NTA re-examination portal reportedly became inaccessible. The development added to speculation surrounding the claims, though no official confirmation of a breach had been issued at the time of reporting.

Authorities have yet to publicly verify the allegations or provide detailed findings regarding the reported vulnerabilities. Investigations and technical reviews are expected to determine whether any security issues exist and whether user information was at risk.

Focus on digital security

The episode has reportedly renewed attention on cybersecurity standards across examination-related platforms that manage large volumes of student and administrative data. Educational systems increasingly rely on digital infrastructure for assessments, evaluations and re-examinations, making data protection a critical concern.

For now, the allegations remain under scrutiny, with stakeholders awaiting an official response from the authorities. The developments have added urgency to calls for stronger safeguards and regular security audits of platforms handling sensitive educational information.
