Applying for NEET UG 2026? Applications end March 8 — key errors to avoid

The registration process for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 will conclude on March 8, 2026. If you have your eyes set on taking the medical entrance examination, you should ensure that you complete your registration process on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, before the deadline. The National Testing Agency (NTA), as stated in its notice issued on February 8, 2026, is conducting the entire registration process online.

Important dates

Applicants should carefully note the timeline to avoid missing any step in the process:

Registration begins: February 8, 2026

Last date to apply: March 8, 2026 (till 9:00 pm)

Fee payment deadline: March 8, 2026 (till 11.50 pm)

Correction window: March 10 to March 12, 2026

Exam date: May 3, 2026

The examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode for a duration of three hours, from 2 pm to 5 pm (IST). The test will be available in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and several others.

Courses covered through NEET UG 2026

NEET UG results are vital for admission into various medical and paramedical courses. This includes MBBS, BDS, BVSc & AH, BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS courses. This exam is also mandatory for candidates who want to take up BSc Nursing courses under the Military Nursing Service (MNS) hospitals affiliated with the Armed Forces Medical Services.

Application fee structure

The application fee varies by category:

General: Rs 1,700

EWS/OBC-NCL: Rs 1,600

SC/ST/PwBD/Third Gender: Rs 1,000

Candidates outside India: Rs 9,500

How to apply

Candidates who want to take the exam need to apply online, enter personal and educational information, upload documents, pay the fee, and then download the confirmation page.

Common mistakes to avoid

The applicant should go through his/her forms with care before submitting them. Generally, errors occur when the applicant provides incorrect information, uses an inappropriate photo and signature, makes incomplete payments, selects an inappropriate category, and completes the process too late. It is better to complete the process early to avoid technical issues that may arise near the deadline.

The students should regularly visit the official website and read the information bulletin for a smooth experience while filling out the forms.
