Sunday saw the Group C or teaching staff recruitment examination conducted after the cancellation of the School Service Commission’s 2016 panel. This year, a new rule drew attention at several examination centres across the state.
For the first time, candidates were not allowed to enter examination centres wearing covered shoes or boots. Following the directive issued by the School Service Commission, some candidates arrived wearing slippers or flip-flops. However, many others came wearing covered shoes and were seen removing them outside the examination centres before entering.

Candidates follow new entry rules as security tightened
According to sources, the School Service Commission had instructed candidates beforehand to arrive at examination centres wearing flip-flops or slippers. They were also asked to carry black or blue ink ballpoint pens, admit cards and identity cards.
However, at several examination centres, authorities arranged black ink pens for candidates to ensure smooth conduct of the examination.
Many candidates shared their experiences after the test. Candidate Gauri Mandal said, “I have completed my M.A and B.Ed. However, managing household work made it difficult to prepare properly for the exam. Still, I appeared for it.”
