The GATE 2026 answer key and response sheet will be released soon on the official GOAPS portal. Candidates will be able to download the provisional answer key, response sheet and question paper using their enrollment ID and password. IIT Guwahati has not yet announced the exact release date.
The answer key will be available online only at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. After login, candidates can download the documents and calculate their probable scores. The final answer key will be released along with the results on March 19. Once released, it cannot be challenged.
How to download answer key and calculate scores
To download the GATE 2026 answer key, candidates must visit the official website. Then click on the application portal. Log in using your enrollment ID and password. Download the response sheet and answer key. Save it for reference.
To calculate marks, candidates must follow the marking scheme. There is negative marking for MCQs. For 1-mark MCQs, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. For 2-mark MCQs, 2/3 marks will be deducted. There is no negative marking for MSQs and NAT questions, Shiksha reported.

The conducting body releases the response sheet first, then the provisional answer key, and finally the official answer key after reviewing objections.
How to raise objections
Candidates can challenge the provisional answer key online. They must log in to the candidate portal. Click on the provisional answer key link. Select the question to challenge. Submit a detailed explanation. Upload supporting documents if needed. Pay the required fee and submit the objection.

The challenge fee is Rs. 500 per question, as per last year. The fee is non-refundable. Payment can be made through UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking, as per Shiksha.
After reviewing all objections, the authorities will release the final answer key with the result. No further challenges will be accepted after that.
