The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates appearing in NEET (UG) 2026, outlining the dress code and items allowed at examination centres. The notice, dated April 30, comes just days ahead of the exam scheduled for May 3, 2026.

Key instructions for exam day

According to the advisory, candidates are permitted to carry only transparent water bottles into the examination hall. The agency has also clarified that articles of faith are allowed, but with conditions. Candidates opting to wear such items must report well in advance to allow sufficient time for frisking.

The NTA has emphasised that following these instructions will help ensure a smooth entry process and avoid unnecessary delays at exam centres.

Dress code guidelines

On clothing, the agency has stated that light clothing is preferred for candidates. However, it has allowed flexibility for those who may need additional coverage.

Candidates are permitted to wear full sleeves or woollens if required, but they must arrive early so that proper security checks can be conducted without disrupting the exam schedule.

Footwear is also part of the guidelines. Slippers and low-heeled footwear are recommended, as they help speed up the frisking process and reduce waiting time.
